Abstract

In the world political map, Russia and the United States are the two important actors emerge as superpowers that can influence any region according to national interests. In the history of world politics, Russia and the United States have different ways doing they political strategy. Influence the Middle East region, especially Syria. This provides is an opportunity for United States and Russia to intervention in the Syrian conflict. The purpose of the study explains Russia's role in Syria to balance the United States using the Sphere of Influence theory. This study uses qualitative methods, the type of data used in this study is secondary data that contains books, journals and electronic media. Data collection techniques performed by the author is a document data collection method. The results of this research are studying the role of Russia that can balance influence of  the  United States on  the  Syrian conflict with various collaborations and competition policies.
