Strategi Pariwisata Indonesia melalui Potensi Kawasan Lombok di Tengah Tren Wisata Halal di ASEAN

This research discusses about the position of Indonesia is less competitive than Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand in the formulation of the concept of halal tourism on the Global Muslim Travel Index. Indonesia can exploit the potential of the Lombok region in the formulation of the concept because Lombok has been crowned as one of the best halal tourism destinations in Indonesia. This research questioning the reason of how Indonesia's tourism strategy through Lombok's potential amid the trend of halal tourism in ASEAN. This research uses strategy concept and Destination Branding with qualitative method. The result of this research is to explained that the Indonesian tourism ministry is late to realize about the implementation of halal certification as one key to success in developing the concept of this halal tourism. In addition, there are still many obstacles from several regions as well as lack of awareness and commitment from various stakeholders such as central government, local government, and society in jointly supporting the formulation of the concept of halal tourism in Indonesia.
