Keywords:
Softpower, Vaccine Diplomacy, Health Silk Road InitiativeAbstract
This research discusses the implementation of softpower diplomacy by China towards Indonesia regarding Sinovac Vaccine assistance. The research that has been carried out aims to describe the diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia in providing Sinovac vaccine assistance to Indonesia and to analyze the implementation of soft power diplomacy using the Sinovac vaccine as China's form of implementing the Health Silk Road Initiative program. The method that the researcher uses is descriptive qualitative and the writer collects data from library sources and various official links or the mass media. The results of this study indicate that vaccine diplomacy seen during the COVID-19 pandemic varies greatly between countries. China has played an important role in contributing to global vaccine equity, in addition to meeting its domestic demand. Furthermore, as China seeks internationally to address this vaccine inequality through the COVAX network, periphery and semi-periphery countries are lagging behind most of the supplies that core countries have locked down. Lastly, the vaccination cooperation relationship between China and Indonesia is limited access to vaccines, thus, the efforts of the Indonesian government to procure and supply the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia by working with a Chinese country to supply vaccine availability.
