Upaya Badan Pelindungan Pekerja Migran (BP2MI) Dalam Menangani Kasus Kejahatan Human Trafficking di Nusa Tenggara Timur Periode 2016-2019

This study aims to analyze the efforts Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) in dealing human trafficking crimes in East Nusa Tenggara. Prospective migrant workers who will go to work abroad are invited by several brokers under the guise of a job placement company, with the promise of getting a good job and a large salary in order to change the family's economy. However, in reality, the prospective migrant workers become victims of human trafficking. Therefore, BP2MI is needed in handling this case. The period of this research is between 2016 and 2019. By type of research is qualitative, this study uses the concept of human trafficking and strategy theory. Based on this study, the efforts made by BP2MI are to develop strategies such as conducting socialization to the people of NTT to be more vigilant and to know the procedures for working abroad. Then, also through collaboration with several agencies and stakeholders such as collaborating with the immigration office and also with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (SBMI) to prevent problematic Indonesian migrant workers from becoming one of the human trafficking syndicates.
